Gecko

48 x 43cm

A Lisbon visit inspired this textile wall, made by layering dyed and painted fabrics. The lower layers were heat treated to alter the texture, and ‘crumbling tiles’ were made by wrapping dyed silk strips around a cut plastic sink tidy. This was stitched to the textile 'wall' for more realism.

The geckos are soft gel toys wrapped in stitched organza and embroidered into position.
